LAND CLASS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

CLASS SCENERY

Upgrading scenery environs surrounding airports and beyond has never been easier! Included within this scenery archive you will find a zip file called LANDCLASS.ZIP. This file contains 3 files with the following extensions: 'BGL', 'TMF' and 'BIN'

The BGL file covers an area with the map co-ordinates: N56 25,W7 50:N53 43,W3 75.

Extract this file to the FS2002\scenery folder. If a file ,of the same name exists from a previous installation then back it up first in case you wish to restore it later. Please note that this new file must be placed in the same folder as WORLDLC.BGL or it will not work. Start FS2002 and enjoy! In time, as this method increases in popularity, you will build a library of Land Class BGL files covering areas of particular interest and it does have the advantage of being able to quickly swap versions of the same Land Class area. The down side will be the increasing numbers of BGLs appearing in the FS2002\scenery folder so you will need to develop your own method of keeping track.

All LAND CLASS BGL files should have the form LCxxxyyy.BGL where the first 'x' is 'E' or 'W' followed by 2 numerical digits and the first 'y' is 'N' or 'S' followed by 2 numerical digits. If you download the free atlas (http://fssharecenter.com/fslandclass/) for the country of interest to you (in this case AtlasGB.zip) then identification of these files should be relatively straightforward.

COUNTRY PACKS

The 'TMF' and 'BIN' files are for end users who have purchased a LAND CLASS COUNTRY PACK (available from... http://fssharecenter.com/fslandclass/) that provide countrywide enhancements in 1 BGL file and includes the current area of interest covered by the above map co-ordinates now intended for upgrade. This is accomplished by MERGING the 2 new 'TMF' and 'BIN' files with the COUNTRY PACK. In doing so a new countrywide 'BGL' will be created in the FSLANDCLASS folder. So, once again, please remember to backup the previous version of the 'BGL' in the FS2002\scenery folder before you overwrite it with the updated version created in the FSLANDCLASS folder (see below).

Please note that to MERGE (a batch file is included with the Country pack) this enhancement with the rest of the Country Pack, 3 other files must also be present in the c:\FSLANDCLASS folder..... TMFmerge.exe, TMFcompress.exe and TMF2BGL.exe and these are all in Microsoft's TERRAIN SDK also downloadable at http://fssharecenter.com/fslandclass/ If these are not present the execution instructions in the batch file will not work.

First check out the scenery enhancements, with max autogen setting, using the 'BGL' file supplied in this zip archive. If you are happy to incorporate these enhancements in the Country Pack, do the following:

Copy the 'TMF' and 'BIN' files into the FSLANDCLASS folder and allow any overwrites.
(If you wish to preserve the 2 originals meantime then either back them up or, perhaps easier, just back up the whole FSLANDCLASS folder. You can delete it later)
Double-click the batch file (in this case 'BritainMerge.bat'), a DOS window will open and the instructions contained in the batch file will execute.
When completed, close the DOS window and browse to the FSLANDCLASS folder.
Copy the new 'BGL' (in this case Britainlc.bgl) to the FS2002\scenery folder.

That's it!

The advantage of using this method is you will only be updating one countrywide 'BGL' (in this case an area within Great Britain and Ireland) and, over time, you will simply be merging further updates and enhancements to different areas within this single Country Pack.
